Peace be upon you all, and the Lord’s mercy be set upon Prophet and his infallible Household.
I first of all would like to say that I am honored to have been invited by “Mad Reds” to write in his exquisite blog. It is my pleasure to be amongst such great writers.
I wondered for a while what subject on which to write in my first post here. My thoughts sailed between areas of my mind; stretching from Politics to sports and society to individuality. However, in the end I decided to write very briefly on a subject that has been discussed for ages and ages. A topic that has shredded the most solidified of minds. A topic that has encased the living thoughts from the dawn of mankind. It is, very simply: the purpose of life.
It is obvious that I won’t be able to discuss this subject in one post, not in a thousand maybe. Therefore, I’m going to briefly touch upon a concentration of this topic: loosing one’s purpose in life.
To begin with, let me present a simple rule of living: all actions have a consequence. Whether that consequence is immediate or delayed, it doesn’t matter. The significance and affect of that consequence on one, determines the action that person takes. For example, stealing could result in jail, while working results in a better life.
However, the meaning of that consequence is defeated by one inevitable fact: we all die.
Let me further my explanation. If one was to steal money without getting caught, what harm is done to that person? That person can only see the physical meaning of the consequence to their action. I.e. going to prison or having more money.
Here’s what makes us different. By “us” I mean believers in God. For us, there is a third meaning to the affect of our actions, and that is the fact there is a higher power who will judge everything and anything that we do. Whether rewarded or punished, are actions are counted. And that itself is the main boundary for not committing fault.
It seems that I have derailed a little here. Let me go back to my main point. You see, if one is unable to find that third and most important meaning, one would find life to be extremely bleak as death is the ultimate inevitability for us all. So why work? Why have a family? Why not steal? Why not engage in countless acts of adultery?
As soon as someone looses sight of that ultimate consequence, one looses sight of the purpose for everything. And ultimately, one looses sight of the purpose for life. For most, life is a struggle. We can only find true happiness if we obey the Lord and thus He presents us with the happiness he promised us hereafter.
But for those who don’t believe in the after life, and for those who blindly turn away from God, they find only struggle and bitterness in life. Therefore, they find relief and salvation in one thing: suicide.
I realize this is a bit of depressing subject, but I only write about to make clear my next point.
It is obvious that the more we believe in the afterlife and it is consequence, the more we are able to find happiness in our lives, for we find more attachment, and more fulfillments.
And the more we derail from that belief, and weaken our sense of the afterlife, the more we start losing real happiness and fail in finding self fulfillment. Ultimately, we become…suicidal atheists.
Realize your purpose.
Peace
