Review: Forbidden Planet Megastore
I can say that my trip this summer was mainly about visiting this store. My London 2010 trip was to visit this comic book MEGA store and what a visit it was!
The Forbidden Planet, a big comic book store in Shaftesbury Avenue. In London (near Covent Garden) is the biggest comic book store. It made my trip much better and believe me when I say it, I never got bored whenever I was there which was basically every day !
If you’re a real comic book fan, then this is the perfect place for you. It doesn’t matter if you’re only into comic books (like me) or even into the more nerdy stuff like figures and all that Japanese stuff (Manga), they have it all. Everything!
I basically went there everyday and with every visit, I come out with at least 20 comics. Its an amazing store .. no doubt the best comic book store in London!
Prose:
1- It’s a Megastore: You will enjoy every part of this big store (the comic book section is big, so you will spend at least two or three hours there).
2- They have everything you need. Even if it’s an old or rare comic, you will find everything you want there. Their comic book selection is amazing. (I found every graphic novel I wanted).
3- Brilliant staff! They will help you and answer every nerdy question you have. They also will spend a whole hour just arguing whether Dick Grayson deserves to wear the batsuit!!!
Cons:
1- The Price: if your going to buy more than ten comics, than I recommend that you do so online! Their prices are a bit higher than the internet stores, but they do have some titles that you can only find them there!
2- Far from the Center! My hotel was in center london (bayswater st.) so .. it would take me:
- A whole hour .. walking
- 5 minuets by Taxi
- 10 minuets by Bus
Over all, it was an amazing trip and I really enjoyed visiting this store .. every day !! It’s the perfect place for a comic book reader.

Book Review: The Batman Vault
Another masterpiece from Virgin Megastore!
I visited their one and only store in Kuwait .. the MEGA store as they call it .. although I strongly disagree that that average-size store can be called a MEGA store, but of course I’m not gonna write a whole topic about their store size.
What I’m gona talk about today is their new DC/Batman masterpiece ..!
The Batman Vault: A Museum-in-a-Book Featuring Rare Collectibles from the Batcave !
A massive book/magazine .. that is mainly about BATMAN .. but you won’t see in this book the story of Batman .. Instead you will learn and read about the history of Batman’s Comic.. from old comics, to the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics .. You will find everything in this book ..
And if you’re a Batman Fan .. you will learn all about the ART of Batman, and how they came up with his costume. Robin, his sidekick has his share in the book. The most interesting thing in the book was that they explained why Robin became Night-wing and the reason for changing his custom from Red/Yellow to Black/Blue. These types of books can be useful if you want to understand the legacy of Batman and most importantly if you read all of Batman’s Comics and you still didn’t understand the story line, then this is the perfect book for you . You will enjoy every page of this book, I did.
We need more of these types of books, which explain a character’s story. Because when you read comics.. sometimes you can’t just understand from what we see or even read .. the idea or the main point of the comic is usually implied and for a rich character like Batman, you need to know everything about the character to understand why did he do that or we didn’t Batman kill the Joker .. although the clown killed the second Robin .. there are other important questions every Batman fan must know and this book will answer all of those questions.
An Amazing book .. if you’re a Batman fan this is a MUST-BUY item!

Review: The DC Comics Encyclopedia
Last weekend .. i went with bo jasim (JUST TRUTH) to VIRGIN MEGA STORES .. to see what’s new .. even if the day before we were there ..
We were walking towards the books section .. when one of the workers ( the famous redhead ) .. pointed at me .. and asked me if i wanted the DC comics Encyclopedia book .. !!
After the 20 seconds ( to understand what happened ), i smiled ..
the story began two weeks ago when i asked if they had this book .. and they told me that they don’t have it (yet) .. i didn’t give them my number or anything .. BUT this weekend .. she told me that the book that i wanted and asked for .. had arrived and i can see it there .. !!
first of all, I’m really pleased with their service .. and how they didn’t forget .. now that’s what i call a good service .. !! i want to thank her ( the redhead ) for that .. i don’t know her name .. but everyone knows her as the redhead who works in VIRGIN .. Thank you for remembering me .. !!
Today, i went and bought the book .. a huge book mainly about DC comics .. from characters .. to stories .. you can find every thing you want .. every detail .. every character and every aspect of The DC universe .. !!
I’ve looked at it quickly .. and of course i began reading the BATMAN section .. it’s amazing how they’ve included every little detail .. from the first Batman adventure .. to the death of the 2nd Rubin ..
there were other books .. about Marvel Comics .. but i didn’t even care to look at them .. !! I’m a DC guy .. always have and always will .. !!
the 400 page book gives you a bigger, more detailed and larger view at DC Universe .. it even has all of the unknown characters that I’ve never heard of .. like: King of Tears / LONAR / Night Master .. and many more ..
i really recommend this book .. if your a long-time fan or even a first-timer .. you have to buy this book ..
I’m still reading .. i didn’t finish half of it .. it will be a thrill .. finishing it .. !!
the only downfall was that they didn’t dig deep with some characters .. ( lack of detail ) .. but that didn’t matter .. because when you are a (Batman-ONLY) fan .. it wont matter .. !!

لا أجد الوقت الكافي .. لـ كتابة موضوع جديد .. أو حتى التفكير في موضوع جديد ..
و قد نرى في هذا الأمر أنه سيئ و سلبي ..
لكنني أجده و أراه أمر إيجابي .. لأنه يجبرني على كتابة جزء جديد أو حلقة جديدة ..
من سلسلة الصيف .. محطات لندنيـــة .. الخاص بـ رحلة لندن 2009 ..
و كما تعرفتم جميعاً على عالم الكوميكـــز .. الذي أعشقه جداً ..
نعود لكم بـ حلقة جديدة .. بخصوص عالم الكوميكـــز ..
..
طبيعتي الخاصة .. تحتم على الانجذاب لـ شخص أو مادة أو حتى نوع ..
واحد ماله ثاني .. فـ عندما أنجذب لـ أمر ما .. أترك غيره .. ولا أكترث بغيــــره ..
بمعنى أن حبي لـ فريق معين .. يجعلني أشجعه فقط .. ولا أهتم للبقية ..
حتى مسمعي .. عندما سمعت صوت الرادود الحسيني الحاج ملا باسم الكربلائي ..
أغلقت إذني عن بقية الرواديـــد ..
ليس لأن البقية كلهم ليسوا بنفس المستوى ..
لكن عامل الذوق الذاتي يلعب دور .. و لكن هناك سبب أخر ..
هو أنني إذا اخترت أمر .. أختار الأفضل بالنسبة لرأي الخاص .. فـ مثلاً مع الحاج ملا باسم ..
عندما سمعت صوته الجوهــــــري .. لماذا اسمع البقية مع احترامي لهم .. و من هنا فقد عودت نفسي على صوته .. حتى أنني الآن .. لا ارتاح إلا لصوته الجوهري النقـــي ..
خرجنا من صلب الموضوع كثيراً .. لكنها تعتبر مقدمة نفسية لـ ما سـ أقدمه لكم ..
لأننا سـ نترجم هذه الحالة النفسية التي أعيشها .. و نربطها بـ عالم الكوميكــز ..
فـ بعد الحلقة الرائعة التي بثت عبر أثيــــر موقع الديرة شـــات .. الخاصة بـ الكوميكـــز ..
نعلم أن لكل منا ذوقه الخاص في اختيار نوعية الكوميكــز .. و هذا بالضبط ما حصل لي ..
فـ أنا و منذ الصغـــر .. عاشق لـ سلسلة قصص شخصية ..

التي اعتبرها و برأي شخصي أقوى الشخصيات .. و أكثرها واقعية ..
و من هنا نرى أن شخصيتي الواقعية تترجم عبر الكوميكـــز ..
على العموم .. و مع وجودي في لندن .. كان لابد أن احصل على أكبر عدد من القصص ..
و كانت النتيجة .. طبيعية جداً ..

ليس لدينا محل أو مكتبة تبيع مثل هذه الكتب .. التي تدرج تحت خانة الـ

و من هنا فـ كانت هذه الرحلة أشبه بـ الانطلاقة .. و إن شاء الله لن تكون الأخيرة ..
لأنني سـ أبدأ بـ طلب أجدد و أحدث القصص عبر الإنترنـــــت .. بشكل مستمـــر ..

مع حرارة الجو .. أعتقد أنني وجدت أفضل طريقة لـ تمضية وقت الفراغ ..

نستمر معكم أعزائي .. بســــرد المواضيــــع الخاصة بـ رحلة لندن 2009 ..
و اليوم موعدنـــا مع الكوميكـــــز

و كما تعلمون .. حبي الأبدي لهذه النوعية من الكتب ..
كان لابد أن أبحث عن محل مناسب في لندن لهذا الغرض ..
خصوصاً و أننا في الكويت .. نفتقر و بشدة لهذه الأمور ..
و مع الأسف .. اكتشفت .. أن الأمر نفسه ينطبق في لنــــدن ..
وبعد البحث المتواصل طوال الأسبوع الأول من الرحلة ..
حدث ما لم أتوقعه ..
خلال رحلتنا لـ المتحف الوطني البريطـــــاني ..
شاهدت و لـ لحظة بسيطة .. محل يحمل علامة شخصية ” باتمـــــان ” ..
..
لكني كنت في التاكســـي .. ومع الأسف لم يكن لدي الوقت الكافي لكي ادخل المحــــل ..
لكن فور وصولي للفنـــدق .. بدأت عملية البحث عن هذا المحل .. و التحري أكثر ..
و كانت النتيجة مبهرة ..
المحل يحمل عنــــوان :
Gosh! London Comic Store
..
و هو الفرع الوحيد لهذا المحل في إنجلترا ..
لكنه كان كافياً الصراحة ..
فـ بالرغم من صغر حجم المحل ..
إلا أنه يحتوي على كل شيء يحتاجه عاشق الكوميكـــز ..
حتى لـ عاشق جاف مثلي .. حيث أنني لا أحب التنويع في الكوميكـــز ..
لأنني أشتري فقط لـ شخصية باتمان فقط .. لا غير ..
و كان الأمر أشبه بدخولي لـ منطقة السعادة ..
حيث وجدت كل ما أردته .. و إن شاء الله سـ أقدم لكم ما شريته في موضوع أخر بعنوان :

و لأنني كنت أزور المحل يومياً تقريباً .. فقد لاحظ الموظف هذا الشيء ..
و في اللقاء الثالث .. طرح علي سؤال غريب .. لكنه طريف في نفس الوقت ..
قال ” بما أنك العربي ا لوحيد الذي دخل محلي طوال فترة حياتي .. هل لي بأن تتفضل بـ قصتك .. “
..
فقلت له قصتي بكل بساطة و كيف أننا كـ عرب لم نستوعب هذه الثقافة العريقة ..
ثقافة الكوميكـــز .. على عكس مبتكريها الإنجليز ( و هذا ما صدمه هو أنني علمت بأنهم هم من ابتكروا الكوميكــــز و ليس الأمريكان ) ..
و هنا قاطعني بـ سؤال أخر .. أيضاً طريف .. ” ما يبين عليك صفات الكوميــــك .. كيف ذلك .. ”
فقلت له .. هو أننا كـ عرب لا نقسم فئاتنا الاجتماعية على حسب اهتمامنا .. نعم لدينا فئات ..
لكن ليس من الغريب أن تقفز جزئية بسيطة من فئة إلى أخرى .. و أن تقوم بـ أعمال الأخرى ..
طال الحديث عن الفرق بيننا و بينهم .. و تكلل الحديث طبعاً مواضيع خاصة بالكوميكز ..
و كان صلب حديثي هو استفساري عن سبب قتــــل شخصية باتمان الأسطورية ..
حيث أن الكوميك الحديث .. تقوم على أن شخصية بروس واين .. قتــــل !!
و مع الأجوبة المقنعة و غير المقنعة .. و غيرها من المواضيــــع ..
لكن !! في اليوم إلي بعـــده .. دخلت المحل .. و في بالي كتب معينة ..
لكن الأمر الغريب هو رؤيتي لـ فتاة شابة .. تعمل هناك .. طبعاً الفضول العربي اشتق جلدي .. !!
ذهبت و سألتها .. و قلت لها .. أنت فتاة و تعملين هنا ..
فقالت بكل طرافة .. بكل فخر .. و هنا سألتها هل لديكم نوعية معينة تعمل هنا .. أو هل أنتِ الفتاة الوحيدة هنا .. ؟!
فقالت لي أنها منذ صغرها كانت تعشق هذه النوعية من الكتب ..
و الحديث أيضاً مال إلى الكوميكز أكثـــــر ..
..
بكل اختصـــــار محل رائع .. و إذا كنت تعشق هذه النوعية من الكتب ..
